শরীরের কোনস্থানে আগুনে পুড়িয়া গেলে যে ঘা হয়, তাহাতে মাংস- বৃদ্ধি হইতে পারে। স্থানটি শুকাইয়া স্থলে ও রুক্ষভাবাপন্ন হইয়া ঐ ভাবেই থাকিয়া গেলে তাহাকে কিলয়েড বলে। কিন্তু বক্ষ, স্তন, কর্ণ, গ্রীবা প্রভৃতি স্থানে কোনরূপ ক্ষত বা অগ্নিদগ্ধ না হইয়াও ঐরুপ কাষ্টচর্মের ন্যায় অবস্থার সৃষ্টি হইতে পারে। ইহাই প্রকৃত কিলয়েড রোগ। চর্মে টিসুসমূহের আধিক্য হইতে এই রোগ জন্মে।

পুরাতন ক্ষতের দাগের উপর যে রোগ হয় তাহাকে অপ্রকৃত (false) এবং দাগবিহীন স্বাভাবিক চর্মের উপর যে পীড়া প্রকাশ পায় তাহাকে প্রকৃত(true) কিলয়েড বা keloid বলে।

সাধারণতঃ এই পীড়ায় কোন উপদ্রব থাকে না কিন্তু কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে উহাতে চুলকানি ও স্পর্শকাতরতা থাকিতে দেখা গিয়াছে। সাধারণতঃ ইহা বুকের অস্থিতেই জন্মে, যদিও কখন কখন মুখমণ্ডল, কর্ণ, গ্রীবা এবং শাখাসমূহেও দেখা যাইতে পারে। এই পীড়ার কারণ এখনও জানা যায় নাই। স্ত্রী-পুরুষ উভয়েরই এই পীড়া দেখা যাইতে পারে। সাধারণতঃ বয়স ২৫ হইতে ৫০ বৎসর মধ্যেই এই রোগ প্রকাশ পায়।

মলদ্বারে পাইলসের সমস্যায় অনেকে ভুগে থাকেন। এর মধ্যে অনেকেই না বুঝে ভুল চিকিৎসকের কাছে গিয়ে সমস্যাটি জটিল করে তোলেন। পাইলস বা হেমোরয়েড হচ্ছে মলদ্বারের নিচের অংশে এক ধরনের রক্তের গুচ্ছ- যেটা একটা দানার মতো ফুলে যায়। মল ত্যাগ বা মল ত্যাগ না করলেও সেখান থেকে প্রায়ই রক্তপাত হয়।

পাইলসের সঠিক কোন কারণ জানা না থাকলেও ধারণা করা হয়, দীর্ঘদিনের কোষ্ঠকাঠিন্য বা ডায়রিয়া, শাকসবজী ও অন্যান্য আঁশযুক্ত খাবার এবং পানি কম পান করা, অতিরিক্ত ওজন, গর্ভাবস্থা, লিভার সিরোসিস, মল ত্যাগে বেশী চাপ দেয়া, অতিরিক্ত মাত্রায় লেকজেটিভের ব্যবহার, টয়লেটে বেশী সময় ব্যয়, বৃদ্ধ বয়স, পরিবারে কারও পাইলস থাকা, ভার উত্তোলন অথবা দীর্ঘ সময় বসে থাকার কারণে পাইলস হয়।

মলদ্বার দিয়ে রক্ত আসা মানেই পাইলস নয়। চিকিৎসকই তা নিশ্চিত করতে পারবেন। পাইলসের প্রাথমিক লক্ষণগুলো হল, মলত্যাগের সময় ব্যথাহীন রক্তপাত হওয়া, মলদ্বারে জ্বালাপোড়া, যন্ত্রণা বা চুলকানি এমনকি কখনও কখনও মলদ্বারে ব্যথাও হতে পারে। এর পরের পর্যায়ে মলদ্বারের ফোলা বাইরে বের হয়ে আসতে পারে আবার নাও আসতে পারে। আর বের হয়ে আসলেও আপনা-আপনি ভেতরে চলে যায়।

তবে এর চাইতে আর একটু খারাপ পর্যায় হলে তা হাত দিয়ে ভেতরে ঢুকিয়ে দিতে হয় এবং মারাত্নক পর্যায় হলে তা আর ভেতরে প্রবেশ করানো যায় না। বাইরে একটি টিউমার বা মাংসপিণ্ডের মত কিছু একটা সবসময় বের হয়ে থাকবে। যা মলত্যাগে বাধা সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। ব্যথা হবে, এমনকি গ্যাংগ্রিন বা অন্য সমস্যা তৈরি করতে পারে। মলদ্বারের বাইরেও পাইলস হতে পারে। এর লক্ষণগুলো হল মলদ্বারের বাইরে ফুলে যাওয়া যা হাত দিলে স্পর্শ ও অনুভব করা যায়। কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে রক্তপাত বা মলদ্বারে ব্যথাও হতে পারে।

জীবনযাপন

উচ্চ আশঁযুক্ত খাবার, ফলমূল এবং শাক-সবজি বেশি করে খেতে হবে। দৈনিক ছয় থেকে আট গ্লাস পানি পান করতে হবে। তরল জাতীয় খাবার খেতে হবে। প্রতিদিন মলত্যাগের অভ্যাস যেন থাকে। মলত্যাগের সময় কষা হলে বেশি চাপ প্রয়োগ করা বা চেপে রাখা যাবে না। দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে দাঁড়িয়ে বা বসে থাকা যাবে না। ব্যায়াম কষাভাব দূর করতে সাহায্য করবে। কোনো ধরনের সমস্যা দেখা দিলে দ্রুত চিকিৎসকের শরনাপন্ন হতে হবে।

খোসাহীন শস্য, চর্বিযুক্ত খাবার, মসৃণ চাল, কলে ছাঁটা আটা, ময়দা, চা, কফি, চীজ, মাখন, চকোলেট, আইসক্রীম, কোমল পানীয়, পরোটা, লুচি, চিপস ইত্যাদি খাবার যতটা সম্ভব এড়িয়ে চলতে হবে। এর বদলে তাজা শাকসবজি, ফলমূল, ডাল, সালাদ, দধি, পনির, গাজর, মিষ্টি কুমড়া, টকজাতীয় ফল, পাকা পেপে, বেল, আপেল, কমলা, খেজুর, ডিম, মাছ, মুরগীর মাংস, ভূসিযুক্ত (ঢেঁকি ছাঁটা) চাল ইত্যাদি খেতে হবে। পায়ুপথ পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্ন রাখতে হবে। কুসুম গরম পানি দিয়ে দিনে কয়েকবার জায়গাটা মুছতে/ভিজাতে হবে। ফোলা কমানোর জন্য আক্রান্ত স্থানে বরফ ঘষা যেতে পারে। ব্যথা কমানোর জন্য ডাক্তারের পরমর্শানুযায়ী ঔষধ গ্রহণ করতে হবে।
